In 2017, after many conversations with actor Arnaud Valois, during which we talked about creating images together, I took a serie of portraits of him. It often happens that models, actors, and designers are deeply moved when I photograph them or their creations.
They frequently say “Your pictures truly represent me in a way no one else has been able to portray me.”
This was the case with Arnaud. When we both posted his portrait on Instagram, Vanity Fair loved the picture so much that they decided to purchase and use them in a major article to introduce Arnaud, who had recently starred in the film "120 battements par minute" and would later win multiple prizes and nominations for the film.
I believe I captured something delicate from the moment in his portrait, as I always strive to do. I enjoy discovering the hidden aspects beneath appearances.
While I am based in Paris, I have traveled around the world transforming ephemeral moments into anachronistic images, always with a deep care for describing the subject with elegance and artistry. It all began in Japan when I was a young man and worked as a model. Soon, the urge to move behind the camera emerged, and I have never been able to keep the camera out of my hands since.
I spent my initial years as a photographer in a creative duo, "SY-DELORME," in which I created images for the international editions of publications such as Vogue, Elle, Madame Figaro, and Harper's Bazaar. Ever since I am a solo photographer, I have been expanding my personal artistic vision.
I love creating images that are descriptive and have a certain sense of formality.
